New Exotic Batik was established in early January 2012 or moments after the recognition of batik as a humanitarian heritage for oral and non-material culture from UNESCO. This gives encouragement for craftsmen to participate in developing and preserving it. New Exotic Batik introduces various written batik motifs with unique designs and premium quality.
The making of New Exotic Batik is carried out by our craftsmen who are 90 percent women with the aim of empowering rural mothers. Beginning with the process of drawing motifs on the cloth, followed by attaching the wax to the cloth using canting media. Followed by the coloring process with natural colors, such as from wood, leaves, or flowers. Ended with wax decay in boiling water and drying cloth. This process can take three to 6 months depending on the difficulty level of the motifs and colors used.
